Welcome to Anti-Slavery International

.

Anti-Slavery International, the world’s oldest international human rights organisation, was founded in 1839. It is the only charity in the United Kingdom working exclusively against slavery and related abuses. Anti-Slavery International is committed to eliminating all forms of slavery in the world today, including: debt bondage, forced labour, forced marriage, the worst forms of child labour, human trafficking and traditional slavery. It works at the local, national and international levels to eliminate the system of slavery around the world by: urging governments of countries with slavery to develop and implement measures to end it; pressing governments and intergovernmental agencies to make slavery a priority issue; supporting research to assess the scale of slavery in order to identify measures to end it; working with local organisations to raise public awareness of slavery; and by educating the public about the realities of slavery and campaigning for its end. Our Vision-

Slavery, servitude and forced labour are violations of individual freedom, which deny basic dignity and fundamental human rights. Anti-Slavery International supports today’s fight for tomorrow’s freedom by exposing current cases of slavery and campaigning for their eradication, supporting the initiatives of local organisations to release people, and pressing for more effective implementation of international laws against slavery.

Programmes and Activities-

Anti-Slavery International is committed through research, raising awareness and campaigning to eliminating all forms of contemporary slavery, including: debt bondage, forced labour, forced marriage, the worst forms of child labour, trafficking and traditional slavery. By pressurising governments to acknowledge slavery and abolish its practice, and by giving local organisations an international voice, we increase the power for change. It is inconceivable that in the 21st century, slavery is allowed to exist. We will continue the fight against slavery until everyone is free.
